Childhood Memories

Quoting from The Wire portal:

'Sound artist Janek Schaefer has released a free Audiofile Album called Childhood Melodies. Coming out of his all-ages friendly DJ party project, Lucky Dip Disco (in which the audience selects the 7" to play), Schaefer based the mix on his own collection of records and tracks of children's music from the 30s through to the 70s. The artist is asking for donations to the charity Childline.'

The Durutti Column

I've no idea how i managed to miss on their beautiful music for all these years. The flutter and tape hiss on this video make the tune all the more charming - if the country wasn't going bankrupt, i would even buy all their records.

Emergency Exit

This Sunday we'll be reclaiming our own public spaces (in the way that the great organisers from often urge us to) by having a pic-nic on the burnt down forests of the Penteli area.

In this half-dystopian environment (the green is starting to grow back, slowly but steadily), we will play our music and meet with like-minded people who think that arsonists or whatever other sub-human creatures don't own this city - but we do.

More info on the event here and here.

Music providers: FH, The Boy and Espeekay.

I got the trigger cocked back
watch those devils drop back
they don't know where god's at
i'll show them if they talk back
they got capped
watched they wigs get rocked back

oh mighty lord in Heaven.

do they know where they're heading?
look they skin is sheddin'
they heading for another deadend

they keep running away
put them in the graves
no one's coming today to
see if they're saved
though you running to play
none of you will pray...
till it's the coming of days,
when you can't run away...

to the east, my brother, to the the east

he saves, she saved
everybody think that they saved.
he safe. she safe.
nobody is saved.
he think that he's saved.
she think that she saved. we think that we safe
nobody here's saved.
why you keep running?
i keep running. why you running?

There is a nice FH feature in the latest edition of the Ozon art and fashion magazine. You can get the PDF here.

It's bi-lingual, too.

More Strange Life

..and i knew i had to check that blog more often...

P0lysick myspace

We don't call it 'Krautrock'

Top of my to-get list.

Apart from a flawless selection, it also boasts extensive liner notes, loads of 'exclusive' photos and 'super-loud' vinyl remastering (i can't really tell if this is good or bad).

The Michael Bundt track is destroying me right now.
